About Us
Cork Gas Centre is a family run local business in Forgehill.
Here is a little bit of the back story... The operators of Cork Gas Centre are Killian Murphy and Séad Ní Mhaoilmhia. Killian is 3rd generation in the gas business; Killians grandfather, Con Murphy of Flower Lodge set up the Cork Caravan Company in 1938 on Father Mathew street, which along with supplying gas and gas appliances to the people of Cork, he also would have been well known for his Horse Draw Caravan tourist business.
Killians father Karl Murphy continued running Cork Caravan Company taking over from Con in 1959, but moved to the current location, Forge Hill in 1973.Karl was well known in Cork for his ‘Calor Gas Shop’ here on Forge Hill until his retirement in 2006.
In the same year 2006, Killian took on the Flogas dealership and set about progressing the business and setting up CorkGasCentre upon the well-established roots of being 3rd generation in the gas business here in Cork. As well as being a member of the RGI (Register of Gas Installers Ireland), APHCI and HETAS, we are also a member of the ILPGA, Irish Liquid Petroleum Gas Association .
